Dr. Patrick Gorman has served as musical director of the Philharmonic Chorus of Madison since 1995. Pat is a graduate of the College of Wooster (BMus), the University of Notre Dame (MM), and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (DMA). He moved to Madison in 1991 for doctoral studies in choral conducting with Professor Robert Fountain. Before moving to Madison, he served on the voice faculty of the University of Notre Dame (Indiana) and was director of music at Christ the King Catholic Church (South Bend, Indiana).

Pat is musical director of the Madison Diocesan Choir and is choir director for the Saint Raphael parish. He is director of the Office of Worship for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Madison. In that capacity he is involved in the liturgical formation and musical training of parish ministers throughout the 11-county diocese composed of 135 parishes and missions. This has allowed him to pursue his interest in church music, particularly the role of the church choir in the reformed liturgy of the Roman Rite.

Pat has conducted performances with numerous Wisconsin choirs, including the University of Wisconsin Concert Choir, the Madison Chamber Choir, and the Milwaukee Master Singers. He is a frequent guest conductor at Madison's popular Summer Sings. In addition to his conducting commitments, he has performed as tenor soloist throughout the Midwest and has served as a faculty member for state and national workshops and clinics.

He lives in Madison with his wife Denise and their daughters Catherine and Sarah.
